Proof Of Insurance

​As of October 1, 2016 Maryland law requires that the operator of a motor vehicle that is required to be registered in Maryland carry proof of insurance. This can either be the paper insurance card that the insurance company provides or an electronic version of the card which can be shown on a cell phone or other portable electronic device. After July 1, 2017, failure to have proof of insurance may result in a $50 fine.
